I’ve had a variety of problems printing from SPSS 16
on an HP Laserjet 4200 PCL6, for example:-
I’ve not been able to spot any patterns in these
different scenarios however. To give you an idea of a specific example of a problem I
have experienced please see below. Sent print command at 14:29 Printing started at 14:41 (no one else was
using the printer in this period and it has paper loaded) Got to page 11 at 14:45 Message on printer to press tick button to
print last page – pressed this and 1 page printed BUT it should not have
been the last page! Since then got a page headed “PCL XL
error” followed by Subsystem: USERSTREAM Error: MissingData Operator 0x0 Position: 0 Then every couple of minutes another page
prints as follows: Subsystem: KERNEL Error: StreamUndefined Operator 0x0 Position: 0 I cancelled the job from the print queue
but well over an hour later it was still there and therefore prevented me from
printing anything else (not sure if it affected any colleagues or not –
the printer is on a network). Because of the long print time I once left a job printing
when I went home for the evening. Errors similar to those described above
occurred. My colleagues turned the printer off and then on again which
caused the job to start again from the beginning (and to error again).
After several cycles of this they had to turn the printer off and leave it off
for the rest of the day and overnight. They couldn’t use the printer
again until my print job had been successfully deleted from the print queue the
next morning. Please can you advise how to resolve this problem? Thanks Steve --------------------------------------------------------- Steve Dugdale Postgraduate Researcher (PhD) School of Environmental Sciences (ENV) Email. [hidden email] Office tel. +44 (0) 1603 591343 |

Hi
Steve,
You don't
say what operating system you're using. We have a reported issue with inability
to print on Release 16 and up on Macs using PCL drivers due to incompatibilities
with Java, with a solution of installing a Postscript printer
driver.
