SAS to SPSS Value Labels

Message
Hello folks,

When I read SAS xpt NHANES files into SPSS their value labels are lost and they must be entered manually which is a very painful process. Is there any way around this deficiency? IS there any NHANES source to read value labels into SPSS files? Thanks a lot.

A sample SPSS value label is as follows:

*********  variable DSDMTCH ********/.
VALUE  LABELS DSDMTCH
1        'Exact or near exact match'
   2        'Probable match'
   3        'Generic match'
   4        'Reasonable match'
   5        'Default match'
   6        'No match'
   7        'Refused'
   9        "Don't know".

Max.

I have just completed this using the brute force method; could not identify any way around it. If there is, I would love to know, though. Kim
