Does anyone have any idea on how to import a SAS
transport file into SPSS?

Is there an analogue of a SAS transport file in SPSS?

There is a commercial program called Stat/Transfer (I have it), and it
reads SAS transport files. Also, I have taken a look at SPSS 15 list of
files recognized, and SAS transport files are among them (I can't tell
about older SPSS versions...).

The command you want is GET SAS.  The easiest thing to do is to use the File/Open/Data menu to generate the syntax (or just open the file that way).

As far as an analogue goes, it depends on what you want.  SPSS has the portable file format, which is read and written with the IMPORT and EXPORT commands, but the SPSS SAV file is cross platform readable and SPSS can write files in many formats, including SAS, so the portable file isn't needed very often.
