Does anyone know a good step by step primer to introduce someone to SAX
Basic, I looked on Rayland Levesque's site, and was a little mystified as to exactly how the code works, and whether or how it gets installed on SPSS or Excel or both. Also I went to developer central and was unable to find SAX Basic, but did find it somewhere else on the internet. Any help or guideance would be appreciated. The SaxBasic materials are installed with SPSS. If you open an existing script or create a new one, the Help menu will give you information on both the language and the SPSS scripting objects. There are lots of examples in the help, but it doesn't really start from the beginning.
You can think of SaxBasic as just a dialect of Basic as you see it in Microsoft VBA or Visual Basic. The part that is distinctive for SPSS is the object model, for which the examples in the help will be -- we hope -- helpful. I expect that other can point you to more tutorial information on the web. You can also purchase SPSS workshop materials on this topic thru the SPSS website. I purchased it a year or two ago, although I have yet to find the time to review it.
