SPSS 14 network license log files

Carina Ortseifen
Hi all,

I am looking for a program to analyse the log files generated by the SPSS
Sentinel License Manager.

In the documentation of LM a MS/ACCESS table reportDB.mdb is assigned for
this but I couldn’t find it anywhere.

Is there anyone having this table? Or anyone who give me a sample program
for doing this?

Any hints and help are welcome.

Kind regards

Hi Carina,

Your are right, there doesn't seem to be any MS Access table called reportDB installed by the Sentinel LM software, even though it's referenced in the Help.

You could however, simply read the log file in to an Access database, by creating a new table and specifying the variables.

Alternatively there is a powerful data analysis tool that you might have heard of called SPSS, that will read in the log file for you ;-)

By default you create a simple log file in text format, though you can convert this to a csv file using the lsusage.exe utility on the server. For example, from the command prompt, change the current directory to the SPSSSentinelLM directory and run the following command:

lsusage -l C:\Temp\spssusage.log -c C:\Temp\spssusage.csv

This converts the first file (the spssusage.log) to the spssusage.csv file. You can then import this to SPSS and do your usual analysis...

Good luck,

Antro.
