SPSS 14 not recommended

Richard Ristow
SPSS 14 is actually a very good release. But the interface with Python
is developing rapidly, and expected to be significantly more powerful
in 15. If you're thinking of upgrading, this may be the time to wait a
bit.

FW: SPSS 14 not recommended

Weeks, Kyle
Greetings everyone,

Actually, the upgrade offers are going out now.  In fact, if you use the following codes you can get bonus content involving programmability if you upgrade before September 28 (please note that this offer is only good in the US and Canada):

*       Commercial: US06DM-6046
*       Federal Gov: US06DM-3518
*       Higher Ed:  US06DM-1026
*       K-12: US06DM-3029

This bonus content includes:

*       Search and replace text based on general patterns written as regular expressions
*       Soundex - compute a representation of the sound of a word or name, often used in fuzzy matching of names.
*       Levenshtein distance - a measure of similarity of two strings useful for spell checking and detecting plagiarism
*       Adjust sample data weights to match known proportions in a population
*       Graphics Production Language examples to create advanced graphs.

To see more about the new features in SPSS 15 see http://www.spss.com/pdfs/S15CMPlr.pdf.  You can upgrade by contacting your rep at [hidden email].

Regards.
