SPSS 16 is now available

Weeks, Kyle
Dear SPSS users,

I'm pleased to announce that SPSS 16 is now available.  New features in SPSS 16 include:

*         Increased flexibility with a new Java user interface.  This new interface allows for new functionality such as resizable dialogs, drag and drop variable selection in dialogs and find and replace in the Output Viewer.
*         More powerful data management with features such as support for Unicode data; a spell checker for Variable labels and Value labels; the ability to configure the Variable View (only show certain attributes); the ability to sort the variable view by Variable name, by Type, by Format, etc.; find and replace in the Data Editor.
*         More powerful statistics such as a new SPSS Neural Networks add-on module allowing you to discover complex relationships in your data; enhanced Generalized Linear Models and Generalized Estimating Equations in the SPSS Advanced Models add-on module, which enable you to fit a wide variety of models; Complex Samples Cox Regression in the SPSS Complex Samples add-on module; Partial Least Squares Regression for modeling wide datasets using the SPSS Programmability Extension (see below); and support for R algorithms using a plugin available at Developer Central (see below)
*         Enablement of the Predictive Enterprise with the SPSS Adaptor for SPSS Predictive Enterprise Services(tm) platform, which provides a centralized, secure, auditable repository for your analytical assets and processes
*         Easy Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Amos16.0.  Now you can find segments in your data with Latent Class Analysis.
*         The SPSS Programmability Extension, which provides the ability to extend the SPSS command syntax language with the full capabilities of the Python programming language. This includes the ability to write your own user-defined SPSS procedures and to run user-defined procedures written by others. The SPSS Developer Central Web site (http://www.spss.com/devcentral/ <http://www.spss.com/devcentral/> ) is your online resource for making the most of this powerful extension.

        *       glibc 2.3.2 or higher
        *       XFree86-4.0 or higher
