hello everyone, I have been having a lot of problems with my SPSS 24 in the last few days. I have been working for long hours and opening many files and I noticed that spss does not close files fully (i get error messages indicating that the file is open when I already closed it) and then the program hangs up on me when I try to exit and I have to use task manager to end the process. Does anyone have similar experiences? If yes, what helps? are there any patches available yet that may help?

I upgraded to v25 a week ago, but never encountered that problem in a year of
using v24 (64-bit) for Windows (7). What OS do you have? Zdaniuk, Bozena-3 wrote > hello everyone, I have been having a lot of problems with my SPSS 24 in > the last few days. I have Windows 10.
I wonder if having Skype on might have something to do with it. I just turned it off and things seem to calm down... I have heard others saying Skype interferes with their using of internet. Could it interfere with SPSS functioning? Just wondering because last time I had such issues was like ten spss versions ago so it is really puzzling and unexpected... thanks! bozena ________________________________________ From: SPSSX(r) Discussion [[hidden email]] on behalf of Bruce Weaver [[hidden email]] Sent: Friday, September 15, 2017 2:56 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: SPSS 24 unstable I upgraded to v25 a week ago, but never encountered that problem in a year of using v24 (64-bit) for Windows (7). I haven't had the experiences you report with V24 on Win 10 (64 bit). There are fixpacks for it (https://www-945.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/), but I am not aware of anything addressing this sort of behavior. I have Skype, but I rarely use it. If you click on the Performance tab in the Task Manager, you can get an overview of how much of your computer resources are in use, which might be a factor. I have had the same problems. It seems to happen more when I have been opening and closing many files, very annoying. I do not have Skype on my computer.

I have not seen a problem like this, but as an experiment, I ran a job that opened and saved data files 100 times in one session and reported the timing for each. I tried it both leaving all the files open and closing each one after saving. The time for each iteration remained about the same even when I left all the files open. I did this with V24. I have lots of ram and free disk space, but I could not see any problems. On Mon, Sep 18, 2017 at 10:36 AM, Lombardo, Barbara <[hidden email]> wrote: I have had the same problems. Hello!!! but I think the error is confusing the databases, when you work with many databases can happen, eg. GET FILE = 'C: \ Users \ jfigueroa \ Desktop \ WORKS \ 2016 \ Base Expense \ Consolidated \ 2017 \ Base_Contents_Actualized_2009-2017.sav'. DATASET NAME UNIVAGG WINDOW = FRONT. PROCESS ..... ..... .... .... dataset close univagg. GET FILE = 'C: \ Users \ jfigueroa \ Desktop \ WORKS \ 2016 \ Base Expense \ Consolidated \ 2017 \ 2017 \ Quarter 1 \ Spend_Universe2017_1.sav'. DATASET NAME UNIV WINDOW = FRONT. PROCESS... ... ... ... ... dataset close UNIV. I hope it helps you Sincerely, 2017-09-18 13:21 GMT-06:00 Jon Peck <[hidden email]>:
