Job Description: D3 Systems, Inc. is an internationally-oriented opinion,
media and market research company based in Fairfax County, Virginia. Since
1987, D3 has conducted surveys on a global basis for an international
clientele in government, business and the non-profit sector.  While D3
conducts some qualitative research, our strength is in quantitative survey
research.

 Responsibilities include:

 1.  Managing D3’s relationship with SPSS, Inc. (updates, training,
D3’s resource person for new applications).

 2.  Manage D3’s server-based data archive of SPSS SAV files, syntax
files (file definition, tables) and data files (ascii) provided by our
suppliers.

 3.  Merge large quantitative surveys in three dimensions:

a.  Merge multi-country synchronic surveys into a SAV file with comparable
coding protocols across countries.

b.  Merge single-country time-series surveys into a SAV file, with
comparable coding protocols over time.

c.  Merge multi-country time-series surveys into a SAV file, with
comparable coding protocols over time and across countries.

 4.  Manage D3’s SPSS Data Analyst who is responsible for preparing
syntax files and analyzing field force quality for selected international
surveys.

 5.  Create and maintain an up-to-date database on
census/statistical data on countries where D3 is operating (about 40-50
countries per year)

 6.  Identify and contract on an as-needed basis with consultants to
manipulate data and large files (including panels) that fall outside the
scope of SPSS’ capabilities.

Job Requirements: At a minimum, Project Manager will have:

 -  BA/BS in one of the social and behavioral sciences (political
science, psychology, sociology, economics, market & opinion research) or in
the liberal arts.

 -  2 years work experience in a related field.

        -  High level of proficiency with SPSS to manage/merge data files.

 -  Excellent oral and written expression in English.

 -  The ability to handle several projects simultaneously, operate
independently, respond to rapidly changing requirements and meet tight
deadlines.

 -Working knowledge of standard Windows office tools (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint).

 -Ability to work from home.

 -U.S. Citizenship.

 Desirable, but not required attributes, are some experience with
media research, multivariate statistical analysis with SPSS, and a working
knowledge of a difficult foreign language (Arabic, Chinese, Dari/Farsi,
Pashto, Urdu).
