SPSS MAC v21 lost the my recall dialogue AGAIN

SPSS MAC v21 lost the my recall dialogue button, AGAIN

But now I know WHY. Can spss please fix.

I opened a ‘.sav ‘ file sent to me by a colleague by double clicking. That file was in an earlier version of SPSS, possibly windows
Somehow that removed the recall dialogue button

Update  has also disappeared from all windows

Lat time ONLY solution was to completely uninstall and reinstall
A major hassle!

If anyone has better advice I’d be extremely grateful.

Its also the case that for v21, v20  mac double clicking  on .sav file gives error message. Dragging to spss alias or opening from within spss is fine

One might think that software folk at spss could get the ‘open file’ bit to work without errors, when they can do such nice sophisticated stats algorithms – but unfortunately they can’t
