SPSS Slit File in R

Mark Webb-5

Is there a command in R that has the same effect as "split file" in SPSS?

e.g. if split on Gender - the procedures are run twice - male & female

Regards

Not really, you can write your own functions and use different ways to aggregate, see all the examples on this page, http://stats.stackexchange.com/q/8225/1036. The by function and the *apply set of functions might also be used in different circumstances, see https://stat.ethz.ch/R-manual/R-devel/library/base/html/by.html or https://stat.ethz.ch/R-manual/R-devel/library/nlme/html/gapply.html for examples.

One of the things about R is that there are 10 different ways/packages to do the same thing.
