SPSS Version 17

leah rubin
Hi,

I am currently working in SPSS version 15 (on Windows Vista) and want to update to version 17
since 15 runs quite slow on Vista. Have you found version 17 to run at optimal speed on Vista?
Also, is it possible to save files from version 17 into files that are compatible with previous versions of SPSS?

Thanks for your input in advance,
leah

I expect you will get a wide range of answers on this from “yes it is great” to “no it is rubbish” – in my opinion if you have sufficient memory, at least 2 Gbytes, then 17 will run fine on Vista. Also make sure you apply all the patches ( 17.0.2 )

As to the compatibility problem you will not be able to save output files from 17 that can be read on 15 ( SPSS changed the format ) but data files should be OK and if the standard .sav format won’t work there is always the portable / export format that should.

Best Wishes
