SPSS engine problem

drfg2008
SPSS 20

The following syntax kills the SPSS engine. Don't know why

input program.
loop a =1 to 100 by 1.
end case.
end loop.
end file.
end input program.
EXECUTE.

VECTOR (v14).

I get the following message in version 20 64-bit Windows home premium.
VECTOR (v14).

>Error # 4264 in column 8.  Text: (
>The name of a vector was expected on the VECTOR command.  The symbol found is
>not a valid vector name.
>Execution of this command stops.
Then SPSS stays up and I can highlight the syntax and run it again.

Works for me. Statistics gives the expected error that the vector command is
invalid. I'm running Release 20 on an aging vista machine.

well, my engine (Vista , SPSS 20.0.0) gets killed all the time:

"... unknown error stops the comunication with the processor .."

(ein unbekannter Fehler hat die Kommunikation mit dem Prozessor beendet. Der SPSS Statistics Prozessor ist nicht verfügbar)
