SPSS on Win 10, file types icons are the same in browser

Kirill Orlov
On my Windows 10, SPSS (versions 22, 25) have the same icon for files
.SAV, .SPS, .SPV etc. as appearing in Windows browser. Despite that
there exists a separate .ICO for each type in the installation folder.
(On my older PC with Win 7, every SPSS version had always different
icons for the different files.)

Is there a remedy?

I don't know why the file type icons are not working on your system but there is an file types manager downloadable from here.

It allows you  to set the specific icon for each file type.  The Statistics icons are stored like this (my V26 is installed in c:\spss26).
"C:\spss26\datafile.ico",0  (sav file)
"C:\spss26\syntaxfile.ico",0  (sps file)
"C:\spss26\OutputSPV.ico",0  (spv)
"C:\spss26\productionmode.ico",0  (spj)
"C:\spss26\spdfile.ico",0  (spd)
"C:\spss26\spdfile.ico",0  (spe)

and others.  In FileTypeManager find the extension you want to modify and use Edit > Edit Selected File Type.  This is the list of icon files I see for V25.

Re: SPSS on Win 10, file types icons are the same in browser

Kirill Orlov
Jon,
Unfortunately this does not help.
The program sets the .ICO as I want, but ultimately all SPSS file types receive the same icon. For example, if I set datafile.ico for .SAV and then set syntaxfile.ico for .SPS, both .SAV and .SPS will have syntaxfile.ico (and thence syntax icon in browser).

Also, The edit file type Dialog have a note at the top of it: "Notice - Changing the properties of this file type may affect the following extensions: .csaplan, .csplan, .sav, .sbs, .sgt, .spe, .spj, .sps, .spv, .stt, .wwd"

In short, I fail to set different icons to different extensions.

Any thoughts?
