Does anyone know if SPSS will run on Mac iPad2? If not, does IBM SPSS have any plans to create tablet version(s)? _____________________________________________________________ Jason W. Beckstead, Ph.D.

I do not believe you can just "port" over apple software from their PC environment to their tablets (one uses OS X and the other uses iOS - different platforms for different processors/chip sets).
I am not a SPSS/Apple rep and don't speak for them, but I would be VERY surprised (albeit excited) to see a tablet version come out.... I'm not even sure how I would use it, or why, but it would still be fun!
Now - for a workaround for right now, they have plenty of RDP packages you can get for the iPad/iPad2 which will allow you to remotely control a PC. So you should be able to RDP into your apple PC with SPSS installed, open it up on that PC (from your tablet) and remotely work like that. Mind you performance of the streaming content will be varied based on internet connection speeds, but the processing time for any commands you pass to SPSS will all be done from the native PC it is installed on. If you have a genuine use for having SPSS on your iPad2 I would say that for handling large complex data files you would want to be running an RDP session which is FAR better than trying to push your iPad2 to do the work - all your iPad would have to do if it is RDP'ed is stream the video content of the screen of the PC you are connected to, whereas if you had SPSS installed on your tablet you would be waiting for what I would assume to be a much longer time for the same computations.
Maybe Joh Peck will chime in and say that they have an SPSS application in dev for iPad/Android - and then again..... maybe they don't... my bet is on the latter. ---- J. R. Carroll Researcher for Hurtz Labs
