I'm perplexed why SPSS offers a much more limited 'archived' list of updates for the student versions than for the regular edoitions. With people returning to school as 'non-traditional' students, many students starting their SPSS usage in high school and then trying to continue it in college, and increasing economic disparities in our population, the company policy looks like either a callous attitude toward poorer customers or an open embrace of a philosophy of education and opportunity only for the affluent. I would love to have the current version of SPSS, but as an almost literally starving grad student, I'm just fortunate to have version 10.0, but wish I could get all the prerformance out of that...that it's capable of. I'll happily update when I can afford it, but company policy isn't helping me get there.
