In SPSS FACTOR procedure, when factor extraction is "PC" (i.e.
principal component analysis is performed) and the user wants to
save Bartlett's or Anderson-Rubin factor scores, the program will
still compute and save scores from Regression method - which in case
of PCA are the exact component scores.
Why so? It is
inconvenience and shortcoming - because
sometimes one might want Bartlett's or Anderson-Rubin scores even
with PCA, in spite these are not typically computed within PCA, in
practice.
