SPSS with app like Citrix

88videos
Hello again,

I have recently begun using SPSS with Citrix. Can anyone describe strengths
and weaknesses, or give me some other useful informations.

For example how to stop execution of some analysis? I noticed that closing
application does not stop this process.

Other impression, changing windows theme does not change all details in SPSS
look (colors and fonts in GUI). Is it possible to handle it, or maybe there
is other way to change some settings (for example syntax's background
color)???? I use v.21.

Thanks for any help! :)

I can't comment on Citrix, but Edit > Options > General gives you control over the look and feel via the Windows Look and feel dropdown list.

Jon,

I know how  to change this settings (i did it many times), and it always
worked with SPSS installed simply on hard drive.  Unfortunately when I use
SPSS with citrix changing windows theme does not change SPSS's look...

Is there other way to change something in look e.g. syntax background?

Sorry, I don't know why Citrix blocks this, but I don't know of another way to change the look and feel.  I presume that you have already tried restarting Statistics.

The look and feel setting is stored in the Windows Registry here (for V24)
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2309509064-3190323472-2955834240-1003\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\com\ibm\/S/P/S/S\/Statistics\24.0\ui\options\general

It  might be that Citrix is causing some other Registry version - say, on the Server - to be substituted.

I tried with SPSS restart and computer too.

To be absolutely sure in regedit ( "look and fell") I should do
modification, and put this:
 com.sun.java.swing.plaf.windows./Windows/Look/And/Feel

????

If it is a Registry issue,  then the other SPSS settings also stored there, e.g., variable order in dialog boxes, should have a similar malfunction.  I suppose there could also be an issue with permissions.
