It's been suggested frequently that list postings have an automatic SIG
on how to sign off, so sign-off requests will less often be posted to
the list.
Drawbacks are,
. There'll never by a perfect SIG
. All incoming postings will be a little longer
. I don't know how it would work with digest mailings - whether the SIG
could be put in only once in a whole digest.
How do list members feel? Since there's known sentiment in favor, I
suggest that you reply if you DON'T like the idea, or don't like the
proposed SIG. And I suggest replying to me, off-list, to not clutter
the list itself. If there seems a general sense in favor, I'll put it
forward.
THIS IS NOT A PROMISE. There may be technical problems with the
LISTSERV software. The list administrator, who I am not, may not
approve. But let's see how the interest is.
