Saving Bookmarks in SPSS 17 syntax

Heidi Green
Hello-

Is there a trick to saving bookmarks in SPSS 17 syntax? I think this is
a fantastic feature, but when I try to add bookmarks to existing syntax
and save, they are gone the next time I open the syntax. (Even if I save
with a different name & then open the new one). I opened a tech support
case and received a resolution having to do with Hungarian keyboard
settings (see below). I responded that I was not using Hungarian
keyboard settings, but my case was closed with no further reply.  By the
way, I am adding the bookmarks using the method described in the Help
Topics.

Does it matter if I have comments before or after the bookmark, even
without Hungarian settings?

Thanks in advance,

-Heidi Green

From the tech support case:

We have Resolution 79730 on file for this issue.

Problem Summary:
Syntax Editor: Syntax command with bookmark is deleted when you insert
an asterisk for a comment in the next row with Hungarian keyboard
setting

Problem Description:
I am using SPSS Statistics 17 with Hungarian keyboard settings. In the
Syntax editor I have typed some commands and marked them with the
"Toggle bookmark" icon.

On the next row I would like to insert an asterisk in order to write a
comment. On Hungarian keyboard settings you can get this sign with AltGR
and _ (Underscore).

However, when I type the asterisk the cursor jumps immediately to the
command row above the comment row and the whole row with the syntax
command is deleted. Why is this?

Resolution Summary:
This problem has been reported to SPSS Development - No Workaround
Available

Resolution Description:
This problem has been reported to SPSS Development - No Workaround
Available. The syntax command with the bookmark is deleted even if you
insert an empty row between command and comment. We apologize for the
inconvenience.
