Saving Chart Editor actions to syntax

In Chart Builder one can save the syntax. But if one double clicks the graph created by Chart Builder and edit the chart I see no way of saving these new edits to the syntax.
How is this done?

The Chart Editor does not generate syntax.  The usual way is to saved a chart template from the CE and apply that with GGRAPH syntax or set it as the default template.  With more difficulty, it is possible to use Python scripting to modify the chart.
