Hi All,
Is there a way to set the widths for the individual columns in an output table? I am creating data tables from a survey project in which the variable labels are the actual question text. Right now my SPSS output is producing rather narrow tables such that the text (in the first column) is wrapped to two or three lines, making the table look very crowded. I can adjust the column width manually in the viewer, but don't have time to do that for every table in every set of output (full sample + 12 subgroups). I've looked through tablelooks and tried to set a default "autofit" for each column but that didn't work. (While we're at it, I'd also like to set my default font as TNR 11). I know there are syntax commands for formatting but I haven't been able to find one that allowed me to specify the width for each individual column. Would "Ctables" do the trick? It's fairly easy to set the font name and size in a TableLook to whatever
you want as long as you have that font installed on your computer. But what is TNR? You can also set the minimum and maximum preferred column widths within the TableLook but if the table is too wide for your page setup, the minimum will be ignored. Consider changing your page setup to landscape mode for more room. Note also that you can set the printing property of the table to shrink to fit. There are automated ways of changing column width using sax basic scripting but I don't have an example at hand. -----Original Message----- From: SPSSX(r) Discussion [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Laurel Park Sent: Friday, December 28, 2007 9:04 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: Set individual columns widths in output table Hi All, Is there a way to set the widths for the individual columns in an output table? I could be wrong, but I think "TNR 11" means Times New Roman in 11
point. ____________________________________ Justin Meyer Rowland Reading Foundation phone: 866-370-7323 fax: 608-204-3846 ____________________________________ -----Original Message----- From: SPSSX(r) Discussion [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of ViAnn Beadle Sent: Friday, December 28, 2007 10:18 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: Set individual columns widths in output table It's fairly easy to set the font name and size in a TableLook to whatever you want as long as you have that font installed on your computer.
