Shift-backspace in Syntax Editor of PASW version 17

Hoogendoorn, Adriaan
Bericht
Dear SPSS list,

In typing SPSS commands in a syntax file, I developed a habit of typing keywords in CAPS. In case of a typo, I'd like to correct it using backspace key, without releasing the Shift key. However, this does not work: the cursor will not move unless I release the Shift-key. I find this very annoying. I'm using PASW 17.0.2. Is this a known bug ? Was it already fixed in some patch?

Kind regards,

I see that behaviour too (with the 17.0.3 patch installed).

Dear Adriaan,

This seems to have been handled by an update to a Java Development Kit. In Release 18, shift-backspace works as it did prior to Release 16 (this issue affects Releases 16 and 17).

Hello Adriaan

There used to be Control-backspace to delete the word before the cursor and Control-delete, to delete the word after the cursor. These too are gone a couple of versions ago.

Dave,

Is there a fix available for Version 16 or 17?    I’m running V16 with all patches and hotfixes, and my Java environment is up to date, but I’m still seeing this problem.

Thanks

Mike

Mike,

No, sorry. SPSS is installing and running its own Java, so what you have isn't going to affect that.
