Socioeconomic Level in Logit

Libardo López Guzmán
Hi listers,

I need to construct a sales predicitve model, logit, and one variable is
socioeconomic level. We have six levels, 1, 2 are low, 3,4 are medium and
5,6 are high.

I would apprecite your help and suggestions to construct a dummy variable to
use socioeconomic level in my model.

Thanks,

Lee

Re: Socioeconomic Level in Logit

Maguin, Eugene
Libardo,

I think the first question for you is whether you want to model
socioeconomic level (SEL) as having three categories or six categories. If
you choose to use six categories, then the documentation is quite clear, I
think, regarding the use of the categorical subcommand to the logistic
regression command. Alternatively, if you want to three categories, the only
thing you need do is to recode SEL prior to using it.

Is this it or is there really more to your question?

Gene Maguin
