Hey everyone, I just had PASW Statistics 18 (The Program Formerly Known as
SPSS, a la Prince) installed on my computer. Has anyone else had a chance
to kick the tires on it? Thus far, the whole interface seems much more ‘snappy’
and the output, FINALLY, isn’t crippled. Some other minor things
that drove me crazy in v 17 that are now fixed in v 18: * The Delete key now erases variables in the Variable View * Variable names can be copied and pasted to and from Excel
without issues * Dragging variables is smoother – still not as good
as v 15 though * After bringing up the Find window and searching for a
result, pressing the Esc key will now close the window (Previously, you had to
click in the window again) Does anyone have an idea when the Programmability in SPSS
Statistics 18 will be released? I’ve grown quite accustomed to the “SPSSINC
CREATE DUMMIES” custom dialog box and I’d love to have it in v 18
as well. -Eric --- Eric Langston Research Analyst Human Capital Research Corporation 500 Davis Street, Suite 1002 Evanston, IL 60201 (847) 475-7580 Phone (847) 475-7584 Fax |

The Programmability packages
were released simultaneously with Version 18. You can get the plugins
from SPSS Developer Central (www.spss.com/devcentral)
if you didn’t get these from your installation. There are now
Python and R Essentials packages that take care of installing all the pieces in
one step (hooray!). All of the older extension
commands are compatible with V 18, but you will need to install them in that
version. However seven of the R-based extensions have been upgraded to V
18 and are installed by the R Essentials package. SPSSINC CREATE DUMMIES
is a Python-based extension, so you need to install it as you did with V 17. HTH, Jon Peck From: SPSSX(r) Discussion
