Since the developerWorks forum is under maintenance, I'm trying my luck here:
I use Statistics 64-bit v20.0.0.1 with the 64-bit Python extension v20.0.0.1 under Windows 7 (64-bit, of course ;-) ). Several of my production runs produce quite a large number of pivot tables from various SPSS procedures, and I make extensive use of the SPSS MODIFY OUTPUT extension command to taylor titles, table titles, and the titles in the outline to my needs.
Since updating to version 20 (20.0.0.0 and 20.0.0.1) Statistics freezes completely every once in a while when executing an SPSS MODIFY OUTPUT command and has to be aborted via Windows task manager. This happens on both of my completely different PCs (however, both use the same OS and SPSS version). The same syntax runs without problems in version 19.
Freezes are not always predictable, but they tend to occur more often
- when 'legacy' pivot table rendering is used instead of 'fast' rendering,
- when the titles assigned by the SPSS MODIFY OUTPUT command are long, and
- when a procedure generates multiple tables, and one SPSS MODIFY OUTPUT command modifies the titles of them all (e.g., in the KM procedure using default output options).
My gut feeling is therefore that this could point to something like timing problem, but I am not sure about that yet. I've already reported this to (German) SPSS support, but they could not help and referred me to the forum.
Any ideas?
Andreas.
