Something strange just happened with a link on my
website. I'm creating an index in MS-Word of every file on the site
together with its respective internet address. Everything worked fine with
links to individual web pages and to files stored in *.doc format, but then,
from my Word document, I opened page:
6: Workshop resources
http://surveyresearch.weebly.com/6-workshop-resources.html
and clicked
on Pre-course self-completion survey

When I clicked Open PASW opened a blank Data
Editor, but nothing else. I then clicked the Pre-course self-completion survey link again,
clicked Open again, and got a message saying file already
in use, warning of changes being made etc. (can't [alt][prt
scr] for the screenshot as it disappeared. But when I clicked
continue, the file opened up properly and I got the following
in the .spo window.
GET
FILE='C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temporary
Internet Files\Content.IE5\FLLJ7OXN\class[1].sav'.
Warning # 67. Command name: GET FILE

File opened C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local
Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\FLLJ7OXN\class[1].sav

This and other SPSS saved files are used extensively in my web-based
tutorials: I found a workaround, but users will get confused and discouraged if
they can't open them. I'm going to close PASW and try again with this and
other *.sav files, but meanwhile any ideas as to what
happened?
