Dear list!
I have 3 variables (time points 1, 2 and 3) the means of which I want to plot as a bar graph with the standard errors on top of the bars. I can't find a way of doing this with Graph Builder or Interactive Graphs. There is a new menu item "Legacy dialogues" that makes summaries of separate variables possible, but when you choose error bars you get only the error lines without the bars on top of which you want the error lines. Have I missed something here? best Staffan Lindberg National Institute of Public Health Sweden |
To do this in Chart builder in SPSS 15:
1. Drop the Bar element on the canvas. 2. Select the time point variables and drag them to the y-axis. This creates two pseudo variables: summary and index. 3. Turn on error bars in the properties window for the bar element. 4. Hit the Apply button. 5. Paste or run the command. -----Original Message----- From: SPSSX(r) Discussion [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Staffan Lindberg Sent: Monday, April 02, 2007 4:34 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: Summaries of separate variables with error bars on top Dear list! Dear Beadle ViAnn,
In relation to the query below. I am also trying to do this but I can't seem to drag more than one variable onto the Y axis. Is there an option to allow for this? Thank you. Best wishes, Jac

drag the variable to the top of the bar, you should see a big drop zone with a + in it. If you don't you have either set the statistic for the existing variable to value or have used a point element.
