Syntax for changing variable "measure"

Jim Arnold-3
Greetings dear list members,

Is it possible to change a variable's "measure" (Nominal, Ordinal, Scale) using syntax?   I'm sure it must be, I simply have not been successful in finding it.

Thank you,
Jim
