Hello,
I am unable to open with SPSS 13.0.1 (regular Windows version) a sav file that was created with SPSS 16 (Windows graduate version, all patches installed). I get the following error message when I try to open the sav file with SPSS 13: >Error. Command name: GET FILE >Fichier système SPSS incorrect : xyz.sav (DATA1204) >This command not executed. >Error # 5263. Command name: GET FILE >The specified input data file is neither an SPSS data file nor an SPSS/PC+ >data file. "Fichier système SPSS incorrect" means "Incorrect SPSS file system". I am aware that SPSS 13 does not support unicode, so this option is not enabled in SPSS 16. The file is not damaged, because it works well with SPSS 16. Did someone have the same problem and found a solution ? The simple reply is to use 'Save as' in version 16 to save the file with the type 'Portable' ( *.por) and it should then be able to be loaded into 13

Hi Michael,
You should try having the file in SPSS 16 saved as a *.por file (SPSS Portable format). This is a type of text file that stores metadata and can be opened with SPSS 13. Hope this helps.
