Uninstalled ver. 19.0 but it does not reset the previous version default paths, etc. Why is this?

Roberts, Michael-2

Good Afternoon List,

Has anyone experienced the following, and if so, how did you restore your settings to point correctly to the earlier file information?  I am using version 17.0 patched, etc., but installed version 19 as a trial – used a different directory for the installation, and all that to ensure no conflicts or issues.

When I uninstalled version 19, all my .sav, .sps, etc., files lost their SPSS icons and when I attempted to restore the old icon, I noticed the path for the executable still pointed to the ver. 19 folder (…\ibm\spss19\statistics\19\ which is empty except for two data files).  Now, while I can manually enter the correct path for the executable, I am not sure how many other threads point to the uninstalled application and I do not have the time or the inclination to manually search them all out!  So has anyone run into this with ver. 19, and do you know if there is some kind of clean up I can do that will not upset the current installation (read that the applecart!).

I think the above issue may be because I created a couple of test datafiles and saved them without specifying a folder, ver. 19 saved them to the default folder above, and since the uninstallation process did not remove them it also save the path, but not sure whether this is correct – just sounds reasonable(?)

TIA
Mike
