Vectors, Loops and SPSS programming

Michael Kruger
I have been a long time user of SPSS but have avoided learning to use
mush  of the programming language such as Vectors, Loops,
and such. But the time has come for me to start using these features.

Can anyone recommend a good web site or interactive text that gives
clear examples of their usage?
I have printed out the 400 page plus OMS guide, but it reads to much
like a computer programmer's textbook.
Something with concrete examples using real data would be great to learn
form. Thanks.

Hi Michael.  Here are a couple suggestions.

1. "Next Steps with SPSS", by Erich Einspruch (you can see at least some of it via Google Books).
2. Raynald's website:  www.spsstools.net
3. Raynald's data management book, available as a free PDF on his site, and on the SPSS site.
4. Examples in the archives of this list, and of the newsgroup comp.soft-sys.stat.spss.

Good luck!
