Ver 15 License fixed

Stan Gorodenski
If you remember, I was having a problem getting SPSS ver 15 to run on my
new Lenovo Win 7 Pro 64-bit laptop. I would license it through the
Authorization Wizard, but when I rebooted the laptop it would lose the
license. I found out that this was happening because for some odd reason
SPSS would generate a new lock code everytime I rebooted the laptop.
Since the lock code and license code are tied together, the two codes
didn't agree and so I kept getting an error output saying the product
isn't licensed.

I discovered the University of Strathclyde website has a hotfix patch
for Vista. I downloaded it and it worked. It prevented a new lock code
from being regenerated everytime the laptop is rebooted. I checked some
of my programs and they seem to work okay, and I rebooted the laptop a
number of times to make sure it does work.

That's interesting and may explain why my 15 stopped running after my
licence expired.  When I tried to renew it, I was told 15 was no longer
being maintained.  I still have 15 and the authorisation code, but I now
have 21 which is much easier on the eye and nicer to use (and uses less blue
ink!).
