WIDETABLES=SHRINK: why also increase font size?

ChrisKeran
When I run this command, some of the font sizes in the resulting Word/RTF
document were reduced (makes sense) or enlarged (makes no sense). Is it
expected for some of the font sizes to increase?

OUTPUT EXPORT
  /CONTENTS  EXPORT=VISIBLE  LAYERS=PRINTSETTING  MODELVIEWS=PRINTSETTING
  /DOC  DOCUMENTFILE='K:\CEA\MI\Report Output.doc'
     NOTESCAPTIONS=YES  WIDETABLES=SHRINK PAGEBREAKS=YES
     PAGESIZE=INCHES(8.5, 11.0)  TOPMARGIN=INCHES(1.0)
BOTTOMMARGIN=INCHES(1.0)
     LEFTMARGIN=INCHES(1.0)  RIGHTMARGIN=INCHES(1.0).

The documentation says..."SHRINK. Shrink wide tables to fit within the
document width. Font size and column width are reduced so that the table
fits within the document width."

I am using SPSS V26 on Windows 10 and using MS Word on Microsoft Office 365
ProPlus.

Re: WIDETABLES=SHRINK: why also increase font size?

Can you provide an spv file that illustrates this?  I don't see this happening on an example I created (V26 on Win 10).
Note also that you might consider landscape mode for wide tables.

Re: WIDETABLES=SHRINK: why also increase font size?

ChrisKeran
Thank you for your reply Jon. This seems to be happening to some tables which
are not too wide.

Yes, attached is an .spv file (where the font size is fine) and the exported
.doc file, where the font sizes for the 2nd table (10 pt) and 3rd table (11
pt) are enlarged beyond the default font size as the first table shows
(9pt).
