Web Based Statistical Software? I.E Cloud computing for statistics?

Max Gunther
Is anyone aware of any web based (cloud computing) statistical packages that can handle multivariate statistics with a few thousand cases?

It would help a lot with collaborations.
Thanks
Max

So far – unless I missed it - none of the major vendors have produced anything and I’d be interested to see if anyone from SPSS can provide more info on their strategy for SaaS/The Cloud. There is also some discussion of this on KD Nuggets at…

http://www.kdnuggets.com/news/2009/n09/6i.html

SPSS has the Web App framework (http://www.spss.com/webapp/  ) which could be used to make any SPSS procedure available over the web but – as far as I’m aware – it has tended to be implemented for specific clients and typically customised to their requirements.

Much of the PASW Collaboration and Deployment Services http://www.spss.com/software/deployment/cds/ are also web/browser based but not currently delivered that way either.

As far as I know the most cooked stats/PA/DM Cloud computing  platform currently available is from Zementis  http://www.zementis.com/

However … this is primarily to enable model deployment in the Cloud.

For example this means you can export a model from SPSS in PMML and deploy it on the ADAPA (Zementis) platform

In short … I think there is a gap in the Clouds. (sorry!) Sadly this isn’t the case in London right now.

Why would you need to go to cloud computing with a few thousand cases?
Please describe what you are trying to do in more detail.
