aligning contrasts

Jeff Mather-2
I have a complicated LReg model and am having trouble interpreting some of
the categorical contrasts.  For example:
Variable = Modal, I use indicator with first with coding as such:
            Parameter code
        1    2    3    4
12      0    0    0    0
24      1
36            1
48                1
54                     1

in my LR output, I get
Modal
Modal(1)
Modal(2)
Modal(4)

Does the (#) in the output correspond to the parameter, so here 48 is thrown
out?  That is what I'm guessing but when I look at the OR, p values, it
doesn't always jive with what should be happening, and the category that is
omitted at times, is one with the majority of the cases?
Please help, thanks!

Please post the syntax you use to run the model, and a frequency table for your MODAL variable (being sure to use only those cases that are used for fitting the regression model).
