changing SPSS graphs in Powerpoint?

Carina Ortseifen
Hi all,

is it possible to change graphs in Microsoft Powerpoint when they were
generated with SPSS 14 for Windows and copied to Microsoft Powerpoint?

(In SPSS 12 there was this ability (I think I remember well). But with SPSS
14 I only get a bitmap graph.)

Kind regards.

Carina Ortseifen

Re: changing SPSS graphs in Powerpoint?

SPSS used to support graphs as objects known to Office applications which can be edited in PowerPoint. The irony of this approach was that at some point, applications such as Word started rendering these images badly. The IGRAPH procedure still produces Windows metafiles that can be modestly edited. Note however that these graphs consume lots of memory both within SPSS and within the target application and don't render well when printed.

You don't specify how the graphs were created, but if they are being created with the GRAPH command or as part of procedure output such as Regression, you must edit them first in SPSS or style them via GRAPH templates because only there are they recognized as something other than bitmaps. What kinds of edits are you doing in PowerPoint?
