comparing b weights across groups

Matthew Fuller-Tyszkiewicz
Hello all.

I have conducted a multiple regression with job satisfaction as the DV and a variety of personality traits as the IVs. All variables are continuous. I have conducted this multiple regression separately across different groups and now wish to compare the importance of individual IVs across groups.

I understand that Fisher's Z conversion is useful for comparing bivariate correlations and even for comparing R values in multiple regression. Is this method also suitable for use with beta weights?

Thanks in advance for your help,
Matt

Re: comparing b weights across groups

Swank, Paul R
If you include the grouping variable and the interaction of the grouping
variable with each predictor in addition to the predictor variable
alone, the interaction provides a test of the equality of slopes across
groups.
