conversion to upper case

Hello,

 

I have the data that looks like the following:

 

REGINA

DYSART

Regina

Regina

REGINA

SASKATOON

Fort Qu'Appelle

White City

Pilot Butte

EMERALD PARK

 

Is there a way to convert all to upper case?

 

Any help will be appreciated.

Try the upcase() function, e.g.,

string newname(a20).
compute newname = upcase(name).

STRING newvar(a?).
COMPUTE newvar=UPPER(oldvar).

? is the same width as defined for you existing variable.

UPPER is an acceptable alias for UPCASE (or vice-versa).

Was that added in v16? I see upper() works like upcase() in v16, but it
generates an error for me in v15.
