Just to followup on my previous post, I have since spoken to IBM support and they have confirmed that this is a defect in 19.0.0.2. Apparently copy/paste works correctly in 19.0.1 and 20. And regarding the help
topic on using Edit > Copy Chart – this is an option in the Chart Editor window, not the main SPSS window where I was looking. So that is a workaround for 19.0.0.2.

Hi everyone,
I’m currently updating some teaching materials and the steps for copying graphs to PowerPoint (2007) appear to have changed since I last went through this process for version 17. A straight Copy/Paste no longer works for me (Pasting in
PowerPoint inserts a blank text box). I have to select Copy Special, tick the ‘Image’ option and deselect the others (‘Plain text’, ‘Rich text’ and ‘Excel Worksheet’ are selected by default). There is a ‘Save as default’ tick box in the Copy Special dialogue
box, however this doesn’t seem to have any effect – the three options mentioned previously are still selected the next time I go to Copy Special. Is there any way to change these settings so Copy/Paste would work? Or at least, change the default selections
in Copy Special so that ‘Image’ is already selected for graphs?
The help topic says to use Edit > Copy Chart, but there is no such thing in my menu – just Copy and Copy Special.
I feel like I’m surely missing something obvious. Any tips?
