data entry - double entry and checking

Samir Omerovic
Hi to all,

I have a question about data entry and data checking in SPSS. Let's say that I need to have double
data entry. I have some 100 interviews that I have to enter into spss but I have to minimize the
data entry errors and I have to enter it twice. Thus I will end up with two data files which will
have the same cases which I have to compare for mismatches. Is there some way to do it in SPSS?

OR basically the question is can I compare values in two separate data files?

Thanks

Samir

Re: data entry - double entry and checking

Zdaniuk, Bozena
Samir, if you have Data Entry Builder in your SPSS package, you can use
it for data entry and for comparing the files (very easy) or just for
comparing the files once they are entered as spss data files. I also
think I have heard some talk (you may want to check the archives of this
list for that) about spss including comparing function in some future
release so maybe version 15 already has it?
