effect sized in paired t-test

Larry Lutsky
I am calculating effect sizes(e.s) for t-tests.  I know independent t-
tests e.s. can be calculated by correlating group membership (1 or 2) with
the dependent variable.  Alternately, Cohen's d can be calculated by hand
from the means and sd's.  Does anyone know the correct calculation of e.s.
with paired t-tests?  I can't find a clear answer on this question
anywhere.  Thanks in advance for your help.

or, if you're willing to employ partial eta-sqr, re-run as a
repeated-measures glm
