When SPSS tells you there is a mistake in syntax with a statement such
as: "Error # 4425," is there any way to find out what that means? hs ===================== To manage your subscription to SPSSX-L, send a message to [hidden email] (not to SPSSX-L), with no body text except the command. Hi Howard,
Try searching for the error number or a key phrase of the error message in the knowledgebase at support.spss.com. (Log in and then follow the 'Knowledgebase Search' link in the left-hand menu bar). Hope this helps. Have you contacted SPSS tech support?
Perhaps more importantly, why are you using SPSS as your primary stat package?! At best, SPSS should be considered Plan B or Plan C or Plan F. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Scott R Millis, PhD, ABPP (CN,CL,RP), CStat, CSci Professor & Director of Research Dept of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Dept of Emergency Medicine Wayne State University School of Medicine 261 Mack Blvd Detroit, MI 48201 Email: [hidden email] Email: [hidden email] Tel: 313-993-8085 Fax: 313-966-7682 --- On Sun, 12/20/09, howard schuman <[hidden email]> wrote: > From: howard schuman <[hidden email]> > Subject: error > To: [hidden email] > Date: Sunday, December 20, 2009, 8:27 PM > When SPSS tells you there is a > mistake in syntax with a statement such > as: "Error # 4425," is there any way to find out what that > means? hs > > ===================== > To manage your subscription to SPSSX-L, send a message to > [hidden email] > (not to SPSSX-L), with no body text except the > command. Finally, would you like to post a listing with your syntax and the error message? Admittedly, at most this will solve the present problem, leaving your question unanswered concerning problems you run into later. But if your present problem is important in itself, try it. SPSS syntax error messages are supposed to be pretty clear, and very often they are; but they can also be obscure, especially concerning syntactic features that are new to you. -Best wishes to you, Richard ===================== To manage your subscription to SPSSX-L, send a message to [hidden email] (not to SPSSX-L), with no body text except the command.
