Hi SPSSers, I’m using SPSS v17.02 and having a problem trying to
save an output file (.spv). I keep getting a “failed to save
document” error message with no other info. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is? Thanks in advance. Best,

Look at your file name, requested for the save.
What could be wrong with it? No such device or directory, illegal characters in name, write-protected? Anything? If you want more answer from the folks who know more, you need to produce more documentation, like - cut and paste the syntax from the output, with the command in the syntax. -- Rich Ulrich Date: Sat, 25 Aug 2012 13:41:30 -0400 From: [hidden email] Subject: error when trying to save output file To: [hidden email] Hi SPSSers,

Thanks for your time Rich. You bring up good questions. And no,
there was nothing wrong with my file, device or directory name, no illegal
characters or anything else. This was the code I used: OUTPUT SAVE NAME=Document1 OUTFILE='C:\Users\Lisa\Documents\Research\Board
Composition - India\Directors.spv' LOCK=NO. And all I got was “failed to save document: C:\Users\Lisa\Documents\Research\Board
Composition - India\Directors.spv” and no other information. So, I shut down SPSS (and did something else for a while). Later
when I restarted it, the syntax ran just fine. So far, I have not been able to
duplicate the problem. But if I do, I’ll give tech support a holler. Thanks again. Best, Lisa From: SPSSX(r) Discussion
