generate a column to reflect growth

I have data (loan values) for 2 periods: q42007 and q42008. I want to generate a 3rd column as loan growth, based on the two existing columns.
 
Your help will be highly appreciated.

Do you just mean

COMPUTE Growth = q42008 - q42007.

??
