help with recode

Kevin Manning-3
Dear All,

I am new to the listserv, so I apologize if this has been covered before. I am trying to create a constant variable for mixed modeling but I can't wrap my head around solving the issue without copying and pasting (not feasible).

ID Time Group
1 0 1
1 1
1 2
1 3
1 4
1 5
1 6
2 0 0
2 1
2 2
2 3
3 0 1
3 1

apologies....previously post was sent prematurely. help with recode

Kevin Manning-3
Dear All,

I am new to the listserv, so I apologize if this has been covered before. I am trying to create a constant variable for mixed modeling but I can't wrap my head around solving the issue without copying and pasting (not feasible).

I would like to recode group membership so that it is the same at time 0 for the rest of the time values for each case. See below for my current data setup.

Your help is most appreciated!

Sincerely,
  Kevin Manning

Does this produce the result you want?

IF MISSING(Group) Group = LAG(Group).
