independent predictors logistic rgression

Ratul
Hi all,

I am new to this list. I am dealing with an epidemiplogical dataset which
has a binary(1/2) dependable variable and 6 independent variables (both
continuous and categorical) amongst which 3 are confounders (age, race,
sex)

I have ran a multinomial logistic regression in SPSS to check for
significant predictors. My question is: how do I find out which are
the "independent predictors" of my dependablr variable. In fact i do not
understand what an "independent predictor" means.
It would also be great if someone let me know how do I do the
analysis "controlling for confounders" (i find this term in papers,
online).

Thank you,

Ratul.
