inserting a letter in the variables

Johnny Amora
My spss dataset consists of variables Q1 to Q500. I
want to put labels according to subgroups of
variables. For example, for Q1 to Q10 I use the
labels ADomain_1, ADomain_2, ADomain_3,...,ADomain_10;
for Q11 to Q20 I use the labels BDomain_1, BDomain_2,
..., BDomain_10; and so on and so forth.  Do you know
the syntax?

Thank you.

Johnny

Re: inserting a letter in the variables

Johnny,

This works to change the name of the variable--then the labels are incorporated in the name.

rename var (q1 to q10,q11 to q20=adomain_1 to adomain_10,bdomain_1 to bdomain_10).

Melissa
