investigating higher order factors

Neil McClelland
In reading Loehlin (2004:201-6) I find that it should be possible to
investigate higher order factors by subsequent factoring of produced
intercorrelation matrices.  I am not knowledgeable about using syntax commands
in SPSS and therefore wonder if anyone can help me.  I need to know (1) how to
make an active data set from the output (intercorrelation matrix) of a first
factor analysis, and (2) how to input that output into a subsequent factoring.

Any help would be much appreciated.
