Dear List,
Can anyone please recommend texts, sites, et al. for learning syntax (i have a basic level of familiarity with spss syntax and r programming). In advance thank-you kindly for your time and any recommendations.

Hi Leah,
since you have a basic understanding of SPSS syntax. Why not make use of the help--> SPSS Command Syntax Reference. It rocks. regards Dorraj Date: Mon, 25 May 2009 10:59:22 +0100 From: [hidden email] Subject: learning spss syntax To: [hidden email] Dear List,

Kind thanks for the information, great pointers for the book and site (even better you can download the book!). Chris, i would definitely be interested in attending one of the training courses insheffied. However, i will also pass the info around at the next PhD group meeting (university college dublin). Once again, thank-you for your time in responding, much appreciated, as is this list. 2009/5/25 C B Stride <[hidden email]>

Greetings,
We have some pages on our website that you might find useful. For
example, we have class notes that attempt to show the relationship between the
point-and-click and the syntax for common commands. These notes can be
found at http://www.ats.ucla.edu/stat/spss/notes/default.htm .
We also have a two-part seminar on SPSS syntax at http://www.ats.ucla.edu/stat/spss/seminars/spss_syntax08/default08.htm and
http://www.ats.ucla.edu/stat/spss/seminars/spss_syntax08/default08_part2.htm .
I hope that these
are helpful to you.
Best,
