Hi Leah,

since you have a basic understanding of SPSS syntax.

Why not make use of the help--> SPSS Command Syntax Reference. It rocks.

regards

Kind thanks for the information, great pointers for the book and site (even better you can download the book!). Chris, i would definitely be interested in attending one of the training courses insheffied. However, i will also pass the info around at the next PhD group meeting (university college dublin). Once again, thank-you for your time in responding, much appreciated, as is this list.

Hi Leah
I run inhouse/bespoke and occasional public training courses on the SPSS syntax
language - if there were enough people in your organisation intersted I'd be
willing to come over to Dublin to run one! Alternatively I'll be running
another in Sheffield in Nov 2009
See www.figureitout.org.uk for more details
cheers
Chris

Re: learning spss syntax

Wells, Christine
Greetings,

We have some pages on our website that you might find useful.  For example, we have class notes that attempt to show the relationship between the point-and-click and the syntax for common commands.  These notes can be found at http://www.ats.ucla.edu/stat/spss/notes/default.htm .  We also have a two-part seminar on SPSS syntax at http://www.ats.ucla.edu/stat/spss/seminars/spss_syntax08/default08.htm and http://www.ats.ucla.edu/stat/spss/seminars/spss_syntax08/default08_part2.htm .

I hope that these are helpful to you.

Best,

Christine Wells
